Put garlic, onion, celery, carrots, potatoes and chicken in a large pot.

Cover with chicken broth and water.

Simmer until vegetables are tender.

Cut up the chicken and put meat in the pot (if using a chicken carcass, remove it from the pot, pull the meat off of the bones and return the meat only to the pot).

Add noodles 30 minutes before serving and simmer until noodles are tender (add more water if needed).
